Milk Producers Pleased with Progress in D.C.
(NAFB.com) – Gregg Doud, president and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, commended House Ag Chair G.T. Thompson for including language in the House farm bill regarding the Class 1 mover. Thompson’s proposal would restore the previous “higher of” Class 1 Mover Formula. The prior mover served well for decades, while the current mover has cost farmers more than $1 billion in Class 1 skim milk revenue and undermined orderly milk marketing. “We are also grateful for the inclusion of language to require mandatory manufacturing plant cost studies to help inform future discussions on make allowances,” Doud says. The Federation also thanked Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and federal leadership for offering assistance to dairy producers as they meet the challenges of H5N1 in dairy cattle. “We look forward to collaborating with USDA and other agencies as we monitor and contain this outbreak and do what we can to help our farmers,” Doud adds.

Hi-Liner Tennis Finishes Off Perfect Regular Season with a Win Over Wahpeton
Valley City finished the regular season in style, breezing past the Wahpeton Huskies 8-1 to wrap up a perfect 11-0 regular season. With the EDC title already secured, the Hi-Liners could experiment with some line-up construction for the upcoming 3-2 match format for postseason play. Despite the roster shake-up, that didn’t stop Valley City from sweeping doubles play again, paving the way for another dominant win. Head Coach Matt Neilson talked about the different doubles pairings used for yesterday’s match, “Breck and Alyssa could be one potential doubles team in a 3-2 line-up with Abby and Ella as the other. We went with those two teams at #2 and #3 doubles to get more chemistry and experience together.”

Ethan Miller Twirls a Gem on Senior Day to Snap Hi-Liners Losing Streak
The Valley City Hi-Liners finally snapped their eight-game losing skid as they outlasted the Grand Forks Central Knights 2-1 to pick up their second win of the season. Valley City was led on the mound by Senior Ethan Miller, who saved his best pitching performance of the season for his last game at Charlie Brown Memorial Field. After both teams exchanged scoreless first innings, a leadoff double by the Knights followed by a wild pitch would set up Central to take the lead after a groundout to first base. That leadoff double would be one of only two hits Miller allowed in the game.
