Football Changes Put Valley City-Barnes County North Co-ops in Question

13-Year Old Driver Arrested After Valley City Crash
Two teenagers were injured in a rollover crash in Barnes County while driving illegally on Sunday evening. That according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, who says an SUV driven by a 13-year-old failed to stop at an intersection and drove into the ditch and rolled over. The driver and a 14-year-old passenger were injured and treated at a Valley City Hospital according to reports. The NDHP is considering charges against the underage driver and are still investigating the crash. The NDHP does not typically release the names of teenagers suspected of crimes, but not charged.
Two Valley City Teenagers Injured in Barnes County Rollover
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two teenager escaped serious injury in a rollover crash in rural Barnes Country on Sunday, June 30th around 6:20pm. The Highway Patrol said the driver of 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was west on 36th St SE when he failed to slow down for the T-intersection at 121st Ave SE. The Equinox went through the intersection, entered the ditch and went into a roll. The Equinox came to rest in a wheat field, southwest of the intersection. Both occupants the 13-year-old male driver and his 14-year-old male passenger were transported to CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City by private party and treated for their injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Two People are Facing Armed Robbery Charges in Barnes County
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPD) – The Valley City Police Department (VCPD) said two people were arrested after an armed robbery was reported on Thursday, June 27th. Officers responded to the 200 block of College Street Southeast at about 6:30pm where they met two victims who had been involved in an altercation.

VCP – On 06/27/24, around 1840 hours, Valley City Police Department and Barnes County Sheriff Office responded to the 200 Block of College St. SE for a report of a disturbance with a gun involved. Officers arrived on scene and located two victims who had been involved in the altercation. After securing the scene it was reported Richard Dewien Schermer of Sanborn, and Cheyenne Marie Woodward of Valley City had assaulted the two victims and taken money from them. It was reported a firearm was brandished and threats were made toward the victims before they fled the area. North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the report and located the two individuals’ vehicles in Sanborn ND at Schermer’s residence. Officers attempted to contact Schermer but were unsuccessful. A shelter in place order was given to the residents of Sanborn and a perimeter was made around the residence. Both Schermer and Woodward were observed inside the residence and refused to contact Officers. James Valley Joint Special Operations Team was contacted and mobilized for the incident along with Stutsman County Narcotics Task Force to provide support. A short time later both Schermer and Woodward were arrested without incident. Following the arrest, the Valley City Police department conducted a search warrant of the residence and vehicles on scene, Both Schermer and Woodward are being held on charges of robbery and terrorizing. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the case are urged to contact the Valley City Police Department.
