Emery Spartan track gets back to work at Farm Bureau Invite

Winter storm warning in effect for portions of Utah mountains
SALT LAKE CITY — Winter storm warnings have been issued for much of Utah, with heavy snow expected in certain areas. The areas impacted are the southern Mountains, the Wasatch Mountains south of Interstate 80, the western Uinta Mountains, and Bryce Canyon Country. That includes the cities of Brian Head, Alton, Alta, Brighton, Mirror Lake Highway, Moon Lake, and Bryce Canyon City, according to the National Weather Service Salt Lake City office.

Piute High School (demolished) Addition – Circleville UT
The original structure (Circleville Elementary) dates to 1921 – 22 (Pope & Burton, architects). High school attendance in this very rural area grew dramatically during the 1920s due to a new state law requiring compulsory school attendance until age 18. Thus in 1926, high school students were moved to the Pope & Burton structure and it was renamed Piute High School.

Flooding hits Garfield County due to frozen ground and rain storm
GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah — A combination of heavy rain and ice-covered dirt led to some homes in Garfield County being damaged Saturday. County officials said that one of the issues they’ve seen is that the ground is still frozen, so drains are still covered with ice, leaving the water with nowhere to go.
