Weatherford Native Takes on New Role at Island Records
Island Records just tapped Weatherford native Austin Jenkins to take on the role of vice president of A&R at the label’s Nashville division this week. If you’re familiar with Jenkins’ name it might be from his days as the founding guitarist and songwriter for the seminal Texas rock band, White Denim. This four-piece band, formed out of Austin, played various genres of music including psychedelic rock, punk rock, blues, soul, and jazz to name a few. Jenkins, who left the band along with fellow member Josh Block, in 2014, stepped away from the stage to co-found local recording studio Niles City Sound here in Fort Worth, with Chris Vivion.

Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Gears Up For Another Great Year of Rodeo
After a 77 successful years, the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse is ready to host another exciting rodeo in Weatherford, Texas this coming weekend. Each year a committee of 150 members, headed by Captain Larry Walden, work around the clock to host this distinguished event. Lasting a week with special experiences aside from the rodeo such as; a cattle drive, parade, and street dance, the gathering has something for everyone to enjoy.
Wooten named WC coach
Weatherford College has announced Stephanie Wooten as its new head tennis coach. She will coach both women's and men's tennis at WC. Wooten, a native of Crandall, comes to WC with head coaching experience from the University of New Mexico, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin State University, Lee College, and, most recently, Butler University in Indianapolis.
