Memorial Day forecast and upcoming rain chances
Pleasant weather is in store for Memorial Day, with temperatures expected into the upper 80s and lower 90s with sunny and calm conditions. However, the humidity will be relatively low on Memorial Day, so please take extra precautions and obey any current burn bans to prevent grass fires if you are planning to cook out. A stray thunderstorm or two may be possible tomorrow afternoon with storms posing the risk of strong downbursts and small hail, but chances appear nebulous. For that reason, a marginal risk for severe storms exists for our eastern and central counties. Following Monday, moist southeasterly flow returns to the High Plains, yielding a long homogenous stretch of thunderstorm and shower chances for the last week of May and early June. Severe weather may be possible throughout the week, depending on the degree of moisture, instability, and wind shear. Exact details regarding confidence in the severe potential and the amount of anticipated rainfall still need to be determined. Additionally, temperatures throughout the workweek will generally hover in the upper 70s and 80s with light, non-convective winds. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will likely precede any showers and thunderstorms throughout the week.
