This Week in Lincolnville: Town Meeting
The New England Town Meeting. In my opinion, one of the purest forms of direct democracy, where the citizens vote themselves, not their elected representatives. The history dates back to Colonial times, when the Puritans decided to run their small communities the way parish churches were back in England, with a gathering of the people (land-owning men) to determine the direction of their community. This became the practice across New England,and continuing to survive to this day in small towns across the region.

Jamie Wyeth exhibition this summer
This summer, the Farnsworth Art Museum (16 Museum St., Rockland) presents “Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled,” a major exhibition that traces a persistent vein of intriguing, often disconcerting, imagery over the career of renowned artist Jamie Wyeth. Organized by the Brandywine Museum of Art, this exhibition features works drawn from museums and private collections nationwide. Revealing fascinating insight into both the artist and the art of visual storytelling, “Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled” will be on view at the Farnsworth Art Museum from July 5 – Sept. 29.

Developers may soon have greatly reduced limits on density as they build more housing in Rockland. We definitely need more housing. But will it be affordable housing or just housing? What happened to the idea of a bonus density tool that would reward a developer to include a portion of affordable housing in a new large building?
