Crews battle house fire in Waterbury
WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – Crews battled a house fire in Waterbury Monday evening, according to officials. The blaze broke out at a home on William Street. Fire officials said that approximately 20 people were displaced, but there were no injuries reported. Stay tuned to Channel 3 for updates.

The Board of Public Works of the city of New Britain issued in June 2023 a policy banning the use of speed bumps and humps on city streets. While the policy statement claims to place “high priority on reducing accidents and injuries and increasing safety on its road network” it claims that, for many communities, speed bumps and humps, “haven’t performed as successfully as they hoped” and many banned their use. The policy cites nine reasons for “negative impacts” of speed bumps and humps including delay response of emergency vehicles, problems with snow plowing, high cost, slowing traffic, applicable only to low volume roads, increasing vehicle wear and tear, increasing speed between bumps, and increasing air pollution.
