Madras Aquatic Center to make major program, staffing cuts after election defeat
Jefferson County voters decided to refrain from investing in the Madras Aquatic Center and Recreation District (MACRD), which is already in a sink-or-swim situation. Two measures related to MACRD were on the ballot Tuesday. One involved dissolving the current district, but only if voters approved the formation of a new one. Measure 16-110 passed, with 52.69% voting to dissolve the current district. The measure to establish a new recreation district (16-111) failed, with 54.33% voting no. Both needed to pass for a new district.
County solar farms are growing
Another solar farm is scheduled to go online this summer. After three years, the Green Solar project in Culver is connecting with Pacific Power. This installation is joining the Oregon Community Solar Program, which enables people to enjoy the benefits of solar energy without installing solar panels on their own property. Allowing for infrastructure and access, Green Solar will produce enough energy to power an estimated 100 – 150 homes, based on average output per acre from the US Department of Energy. ...
