One dead after house fire in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update : One person has died following a house fire Tuesday night in Terre Haute.

According to Terre Haute Fire Department Chief Darrick Scott, firefighters were dispatched at 9:24 p.m. to a two story residential structure fire on S. 19th Street.

Chief Scott said the home was vacant, however one civilian died as a result of the fire. No other injuries were reported.

Fire investigators, including the State Fire Marshal’s Office reportedly ruled the cause of the fire as accidental.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately three and a half hours.


Original : On Tuesday evening, the Terre Haute Fire Department responded to a house fire.

The blaze was reported around 9:30 pm at South 19th Street. Vigo County Dispatch said the structure is unoccupied.
