Hold on Tight: Thrills and spills at Springville Rodeo
After Joseph Merritt graced the crowd with the National Anthem, the Springville Rodeo moved right into the evening’s first event, bareback bronc riding. The group of men competing each took a shot at riding on the back of a horse without being flung off the back. This year the event was sponsored by Boot Barn. The time wasn't the only thing that mattered to win. Each rider was judged and scored on their technique and willingness to lean as far back on the bucking horse as possible.

'Touches My Heart:' Happy Hearts hosts annual Trike-a-Thon
It has been 16 years since 5-year-old Dominik Navarro lost his battle with cancer, but the team at Happy Hearts Children’s Center in Porterville refuses to let his memory fade. On Friday morning the childcare team hosted their annual Trike-A-Thon fundraiser in Navarro’s memory where little ones raced around the parking lot while their parents cheered them on. With a fundraising goal of $1,200, Happy Hearts will donate the proceeds raised to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Highway 190 open from Cedar Slope to its end
Caltrans announced on Thursday Highway 190 between Cedar Slope and the end of Highway 190 to Quaking Aspen and the Western Divide Highway is set to be open. Caltrans stated that portion of Highway 190 would be open by 5 p.m. today. But those traveling over Highway 190 above Springville should still expect delays along the entire stretch, including above Cedar Slope. Some stretches above Cedar Slope will be under one-way traffic control whil construction still progresses.
