Investigation into animal hoarding and cruelty case continues
BERN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Efforts are underway to evaluate and treat the 51 cats and dogs that authorities say they removed from a house in Bern Township Wednesday. Officials with the Animal Rescue League of Berks County (ARL) say they initially responded to check up on an animal with a broken leg.

Macy's to hold grand opening for new 'boutique-sized' Spring Twp. store
SPRING TWP., Pa. - Macy's new store in Spring Township will host a grand opening celebration this weekend. The boutique-sized store is in the Broadcasting Square shopping center. Florida-based real estate investment trust acquires Berks County healthcare building for $10.5 million
BERN TWP., Pa. - Sila Realty Trust, a company that sees opportunity in an aging U.S. population, said it has acquired a medical building in Berks County for $10.5 million. The Tampa-based real estate investment trust (REIT) said it bought a two-story, 30,000-square-foot outpatient building on the campus of the Tower Behavioral Health facility, about four miles north of Reading. Sila did not disclose the address. Tower Behavioral Health is on Wellness Drive in Bern Township, near the Reading Regional Airport.

Schlegel Park Pool won't open for Memorial Day, officials say
READING, Pa. - Reading's only public pool won't be an option for those looking to cool down over the Memorial Day Weekend. The Reading Recreation Commission's website says the Schlegel Park Pool is slated to be open the weekend of June 1, and then will be open daily starting June 6th.
