LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man was arrested Saturday following a standoff with Longview’s SWAT team. According to a report by the Longview Police Department, acting on information by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, officers were able to locate a stolen vehicle that was allegedly in the possession of Lakederic Fletcher, 42, who also was wanted on charges of aggravated robbery. Officers said they located the vehicle at a residence that Fletcher was inside in the 4500 block of Cannon Street.

Tis' the season for shopping, and apparently, SHOPLIFTING at the Walmart Store in Kilgore, Texas according to a recent Facebook post from the Kilgore Police Department. It's an unfortunate reality in the world in which we live. People succumb to the temptation to shoplift from our Texas stores. Perhaps they do it because they find themselves in difficult circumstances and feel that's the only thing they can do to get the things they need or want. In the early morning of October 4, 1877, a devastating blaze, known as the Great Fire of Longview, tore through the heart of downtown Longview, Texas. Longview, Texas experienced two incidents this week. The first incident involved a scam where a man impersonated a police officer and called residents, claiming that their relatives needed money to resolve a criminal situation. The Longview Police Department clarified that they would never ask for payment over the phone for outstanding warrants.
