Criminals may have thought their break-in at a Mercer gun store on Monday went like clockwork until Pittsburgh Police caught up with them that same night. According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, it was barely five minutes between the time that a car crashed through the window of Seconds Count Firearms on North Diamond Street, and when three burglars left the store carrying twenty-one AR-15 rifles.
Police chase on Route 22 ends with driver in custody
A man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at the conclusion of a police chase on Route 22, according to police sources. The suspect took off from a traffic stop in Salem and fled west into Murrysville around 1:30 p.m. At points during the chase, which ended near Tarr Hollow Road, the man veered into oncoming traffic, the source said.
18-year-old killed in late-night Troy Hill shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An 18-year-old was shot and killed late last night in Pittsburgh's Troy Hill neighborhood.The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. along Heckelman Street.Pittsburgh Police say that an 18-year-old man, later identified as David Rivera, was found shot in the chest along the sidewalk.Responding officers and medics attempted to help save Rivera, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are handling the investigation, which police say is ongoing. Additional details surrounding the shooting have yet to be provided by Pittsburgh Police.
Penn Hills man convicted of drug, firearms crimes by federal jury faces up to 40 years in prison
After deliberating for less than two hours, a federal jury on April 18 found a Penn Hills man guilty of three counts of violating federal drug and firearms laws. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Harry Duncan, 36, was convicted of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of firearms by a convicted felon as well as aiding and abetting the straw purchase of three firearms.
