"Mega-Storm" Delivers 40+ Inches To New Mexico

Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, is officially snowed in--in the best way possible.

A post to Instagram revealed 44 inches has fallen on Taos in the last 72 hours, and cars are buried. See below.

Taos has seen 24 inches of fresh powder in the last 24 hours (an average of an inch an hour, not bad) and 44 inches over the last week.

Taos currently has a base depth of 80 inches and has received a total of 201 inches of snowfall this season.

To visualize these numbers, one day earlier, Taos posted a timelapse of their snowstake getting buried. Watch below.

The forecast is looking clear after today, so skiers and riders (because Taos allows snowboarders now!) can enjoy 20 degree temps keeping the snow nice and pristine after the storm.

The only downside is there does look to be some wind on tap, topping out at 56 mph on Friday, but hopefully this can be navigated.

If the conditions align, skiers and riders at Taos could enjoy some sweet wind buff snow days after getting fresh tracks on the same snow.

Blister Review defines wind buff as dense, often a tad bit wet, wind-affected snow that may only let your skis sink a few inches into it, but is smooth and super rippable.

Wind buff is "buttery, cream-cheese snow" that makes for smooth turns, while also making it easy to tell exactly what your skis are doing.

"It can almost make deep-*** pow seem overrated." Their words, not ours.
