Weather alert for dense fog in North Alabama until Wednesday morning
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday for dense fog until 9 a.m. for Madison, Marshall, Jackson and DeKalb counties. "Patchy Dense Fog has developed across portions of northeast Alabama, with visibilities dropping to 1/4 mile or less in isolated areas. Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution, as visibilities will vary significantly given the patchy nature of the fog. Use low beams, reduce driving speed, and allow for plenty of room between you and other cars. The fog should begin to burn off by around 9 a.m. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio, or a favorite local media outlet, for further statements or updates from the National Weather Service in Huntsville," according to the weather service.

The Athens Car & Bike Show on the Square received a warm welcome of vehicles and bikes from various decades of history with even more onlookers to the hot rides along the square. This marks the 17th annual show inviting families to check out some sweet wheels.

The fair has 30 rides, from kiddie coasters and mini-drops to grown-up thrill rides like giant spinners, swings, and the Zipper. For families, enjoy rides like ferris wheels, bumper cars, and moving mazes. If you have tickets to a Trash Pandas game, you get into the fair for free. If you do not have tickets to the game, admission to the fair is $10 and includes shows. Rides, games, and food are extra.
Mobile, Baldwin counties among 12 now under annual warm-weather ban on open burning
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) announced that 12 Alabama counties are now under an annual warm-weather ban on open burning. A ban on open burning begins May 1 for the counties of Baldwin, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Lawrence, Madison, Mobile, Montgomery, Morgan, Russell, Shelby and Talladega in Alabama.
Former Decatur Police chief Ed Taylor passes away at 73
DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) -The Decatur community is mourning the death of retired Decatur Police Chief Ed Taylor after he passed away at the age of 73. Taylor first started at the Decatur Police Department in 1974. He quickly rose through the ranks and served in numerous capacities and roles. Taylor was sworn in as chief in 2011. He held the position for five years until he retired after 41 years of service.
