Do you wonder what that nasty smell that has been cropping up all over Denver is?. I know. Denver has lots of nasty smells, including urine and feces in the alleys. There also is the unmistakable chemical smell of meth that turns some people’s stomachs. And of course, marijuana lingers in the air Denver-wide.

It’s a fair question: Have people experiencing homelessness moved to Denver for a free hotel room?. At least one man did. The mother of a missing man messaged me the other day to tell me she is looking for her son. She said he moved back to Denver from Florida thinking he could get a free hotel room as part of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s House1000 plan. Of course, those rooms all are full now. Also, most people who received the rooms were in established encampments that the mayor swept. There never were any rooms for people who might move to Denver one week to be housed the next.

Migrants and their advocates hosted a press conference Friday at an undisclosed homeless encampment and railed against conditions in Denver. Migrants Willy Bastidas and a woman named Mandy shared stories of shelter conditions. They said migrants are being kicked out after three days with nowhere to go.

The Scituate Animal Shelter has recently introduced two unique and lovable brothers looking for their own, separate, forever homes. According to the shelter, these brothers named Danny and Dillon are quite special. "They are adorable mixed breed guys, weighing in at just about 10 lbs, they are lots of fluff! Danny and Dillon are just about a year old. These guys have no experience with the outside world. Most things scare them. This great wide world is overwhelming, even simple dogs things like walking on a leash."

The Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts recently introduced Chewbacca, nicknamed Chewy, who they describe as a funny fella who loves everyone. “This adorable mutt is built like an oversized Shih Tzu and weighs 25 lbs. Since he was found as a stray and never claimed, we don't know much about his past.” Chewy has a personality as unique as his looks. "He is overly friendly with all, dogs included. He can come on a bit strong but in the kindest way. He wants everyone to be his friend!" states the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts, who is currently caring for Chewy until he finds his forever home.
