Five Spartans from the University of Tampa Named to D2CCA All-America Teams in 2023
The University of Tampa had five student-athletes recognized as part of the 2023 NCAA Division II All-America teams. A total of 48 student-athletes were named to either the first, second or third team All-America squad, while 16 were named honorable mention. Tampa placed three on the All-America teams, including E.J. Cumbo, Alex Canney, and Jordan Lala. Drew Ehrhard and J.D. Urso were presented as honorable mention. Cumbo, a junior from New York, is the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. Lala, a senior from Tampa, was the top hitter in the SSC. Canney, a sophomore from Valrico, was selected as the SSC Pitcher of the Year. Ehrhard, a utility player from Tampa, concluded his Spartan career as the program's all-time hits leader. Urso, a shortstop from Tampa, was a first-team all-region selection.
