First it was mattress stores, then it was car washes, and now it's chicken — specifically fast-food eateries specializing in chicken tenders that seem to have popped up all over Tallahassee in recent years.

Here's the latest: Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders , founded in 2004 and which has over 30 locations in Florida, including Jacksonville and Gainesville. The capital city’s first location appears to be headed to a North Monroe Street location, at Lake Ella Plaza near the Publix Super Market. That's according to a Facebook post by Urban Tallahassee, a local commercial Realtor-backed blog about developments.

It's worth noting that Tally Wings and Things, Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby's and Slim Chickens are all within a five-minute drive from where the new location will be. (It's farther away, but don't forget Raising Cane's, near the FSU campus.) The latest restaurant, partnered with former Wingstop executives, specializes in all things tenders.

Facebook users have been flooding the comments: One user quipped that we should “name the city Tallachicken,” while others replied that they have tried it in neighboring cities and are pleased to have it a little closer to home.

Huey Magoo's tenders come grilled or fried

Huey Magoo's serves tenders a la carte or in bundles of three, five and seven with a side of crinkle cut fries, coleslaw and Texas toast. For those looking for more options, the tenders can come grilled or hand-breaded and fried. There are four sauces to choose from: lemon pepper, garlic parmesan, sweet heat and buffalo.

For salads, sandwiches and wraps, tenders in these meals can be ordered hand-breaded or grilled. There are a handful of specialty menu items to choose from, including the “Magoo’s Sandwich” made with tenders and thick-cut dill pickles all drizzled with a Magoo’s sauce.

Another specialty item includes the "Buffalo Wrap" with buffalo tenders, mixed greens, tomatoes, pepper jack cheese and drizzled with homemade ranch. Prices start at $8 for entrees. Other offerings include teas, flavored lemonades and cookies.

The Democrat has reached out to the company to confirm their plans, but hasn't yet heard back.
