Trustee Smyth McKissick urged proactive community engagement to avoid public misperception—drawing comparisons to past local controversies—while Senior Vice President Angie Leidinger noted that University President Benjamin Ayers has even asked the Corps to consider renaming the structure to prevent further confusion, as the Corps works through drought-related lake level restrictions and dam safety studies to fix the ongoing issue.
