LA, Orange County Gas Prices Keep Falling

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Wednesday for the 19th time in 20 days, falling 2.5 cents to $6.183. The average price has decreased 25.6 cents over the past 20 days, including 2.2 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The run of decreases follows a 44-day streak of increases totaling 79.7 cents that brought the average price within 5.4 cents of its record high, $6.493, set Oct. 5, 2022.

Vincent Thomas Bridge Closing Until 2028

Blinking electric signs warning of the closure of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro have appeared along the 5 freeway near Dodger Stadium, some 25 miles from the span. The 6,000-foot span is closing on November 7 for more than a year as the 63-year-old roadway deck (the horizontal part of the structure) is removed and replaced. A full 24/7 closure in both directions is required to replace the concrete roadway, railings, barriers and seismic sensors. Heavier trucks and corrosion from sea air contributed to the deterioration.
