Meet the man behind the popular 'Grazing Guse' account in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, IL – If you're on a social media app, you may have seen the "Grazing Guse" posting about the food scene in central Illinois and in Springfield. The popular social media account has amassed close to 200,000 followers across Facebook , TikTok , Instagram and YouTube with over 1.8 million likes alone on TikToK. If you have never heard of the "Grazing Guse," you may have still seen the impact from the videos. The popular social media account's videos on The Lumpia House and Mel-O-Cream have both garnered close to or over one million views online. The Guse's video on the Twisted Pasta food truck during the Illinois State Fair helped lead to lines curve around Main Street. Credit/debit cards accepted: Yes Hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day (winter hours) Entrée price range: $4.23-$15.40 Children’s menu: Yes. Kids under 12 get a free cone with their order from the children’s menu. My order : Fairlane Diner is a 1950s-themed eatery that offers appetizers, nachos, burgers, horseshoes, wraps, other sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, dinner entrees and a variety of ice cream treats. I had a Mushroom & Swiss Basket ($14.60), a double smashburger with mushrooms and cheese, plus a 20-ounce drink and a choice of fries or tater tots. The patties were nicely seasoned and steaming hot; the tots were super crisp. My companion ordered the Club Salad ($12.73), a blend of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons, turkey, ham, two cheeses and bacon. It was a large salad, and the ingredients were fresh and crunchy. Extra points for the delicious raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Likes: The menu offers a few hard-to-find choices, such as a Chicago Dog Horseshoe and a fried bologna sandwich. 8 of Illinois' top 30 fishing lakes are found in metro-east and southern IL

Eight of Illinois’ best fishing lakes can be found in the metro-east and downstate, according to a recent report from online fishing guide Fishmasters. Fishmasters’ analysis, “ The Top 30 Fishing Lakes in Illinois ,” named Carlyle Lake, Lake of Egypt and more metro-east and southern Illinois lakes among the state’s best fishing spots. The report lauded Carlyle Lake for its expansive size and opportunities to catch crappie and catfish. “Formed by damming the Kaskaskia River, the water runs stained to murky, so brighter and louder baits consistently outperform natural presentations,” Fishmasters’ analysis of Carlyle Lake reads. About 95 miles south, Lake of Egypt is known for its year-round fishing as its water is warmer than most . You may catch largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish , bluegill or redear sunfish onsite. “With its consistent action and scenic surroundings, Lake of Egypt delivers a reliable and enjoyable fishing experience for all skill levels,” Fishmasters reported.
