Surprise sets up for multiple tennis tourneys

The city of Surprise is gearing up to play host to multiple tennis tournaments through the end of April and into May.

The tournaments will take place at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, 14469 W. Paradise Lane. Admission to the tournaments is free.

The city first will feature the PacWest Tennis Championships, a partnership between Surprise and the Pacific West Conference, a Division II conference with schools from California and Hawaii. The conferce will be held April 17-20.

Next up will be the Golden State Athletic Conference Tennis Championships April 23-25, hosted by Glendale-based Arizona Christian University. Also in the conference is Ottawa University Arizona.

Following the college tournaments will be three U.S. Tennis Association competitions that will draw competitors from around the country.

The eighth annual USTA Men's 35's National Hard Court Championship will be April 25-28. It will feature 50 of the top ranked Men's 35's competitors.

The USTA National Tennis Rating Program 18+ Doubles tournament will be held April 26-28.

And finally the USTA National Level 2 Girls 18s Championship will be May 18-20, featuring 64 nationally ranked players and 32 teams for doubles.
