Rock Springs CBI Students Recognized for Growth and Achievements
ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs High School Community Based Instruction kids were celebrated Thursday night at the 2nd annual CBI Awards Banquet. CBI is an alternative academics program in which students are provided with appropriate education in alternative English, math, daily living skills and functional behaviors to help them become contributing members of society. Alternative math teach Gil German, alternative English teacher Tracey Maffei, and daily living skills teacher Jerry Herbin ran the event, recognizing their students and giving personal anecdotes about the kids.

Wolves and Tigers Head to State
SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Green River and Rock Springs soccer teams finished out their final games of the season ahead of the State Tournament next week. The Rock Springs boys who were in the 4A West Regional Tournament, finished third and claim the third seed for the State Tournament next week. En route to securing the placement, they defeated Natrona County 3-0 Saturday in Star Valley. Next week, they face the loser of the Cheyenne Central vs. Sheridan game that takes place Saturday at 4 p.m.
Rock Springs Main Street/URA Announces 2024 April Volunteer of the Month
ROCK SPRINGS — Marcellus Dawson has been named as the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency’s 2024 April Volunteer of the Month. Marcellus, 20, is part of a program through the Rock Springs Lowell School, aimed at connecting and involving their students with the community. This program allows the students to network and gain working experience. Marcellus’ assignment has paired him with the Rock Springs Main Street/URA office, where he’s done an array of tasks, including organizing and cleaning at the Bunning Hall Freight Station and the Broadway Theater.
Kum & Gone: Local Convenience Store Closes May 13
ROCK SPRINGS – One local convenience store is set to close and another will open later this month. A sign taped to the front of the Kum & Go location at 2004 Dewar Drive announces the store will close on May 13. According to Maverik’s website, the new Maverik at 1100 Foothill Boulevard will open May 16, one of 23 new Maverik stores opening within the next two months. It’s also the only Wyoming location with a grand opening scheduled on the website.
