Big Foot Festival cut short

The first part of the annual South Carolina Big Foot Festival in Westminster took place without any ill effects from bad weather. That was Friday; Saturday, however, was a different story as the hurricane turned to a post-tropical cyclone brought heavy rain and winds. We have this account from festival organizer Dale Glymph: “With a bad storm forecast this weekend, many in this community prayed for God to work powerfully. He did, but not how we expected. Friday came and we had the largest crowd we have ever had on our first day. We were able to get all of schedule completed. Shortly after the last note was played, with all guests safely on their way home, and the cover on the stage removed, the wind started. Arriving early this (Saturday) morning Main Street greeted us with heavy rain gusting winds, and some tents flipped and damaged. Some suffered losses from water damage. After speaking to Police Chief Miller, and consulting a meteorologist, the South Carolina Bigfoot Committee decided to cancel everything except food trucks and Bigfoot speakers. Guests arrived in numbers not expected despite the bad weather. The speaker venue was packed all day with standing room only as arrived throughout the day. The food vendors were busy from start to finish even with bad weather. God acted mightily this year, not by removing the rain, but by allowing our festival and community to be successful even when a tropical storm was trying to stop it.”
