Sunbury, Pa. — Police say an allegedly intoxicated woman was driving with a 12-year-old child in her car last week when she hit two pedestrians in Sunbury.

Erin Wagner, 49, of Sunbury, was driving through the intersection of South Seventh and Market streets shortly after 8:30 p.m. on April 10. Officer Trey Kurtz of Sunbury Police Department says Wagner hit an 83-year-old man with a walker and a 36-year-old man who were both attempting to cross the street.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of what Kurtz suspected was moderate to severe injuries, according to the affidavit.

When police talked with Wagner, they found that there was a 12-year-old child in the rear seat of the Honda Pilot. Wagner told police that she had come from the Trevorton area and didn't see anyone in the road until she heard a loud noise and realized she had hit the men.

Kurtz noticed as he talked with Wagner that she seemed impaired. Wagner agreed to come to the police station for field sobriety tests. The results of the breath test showed a .235 blood alcohol level, Kurtz wrote in the affidavit.

Police charged Wagner with felony counts of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, misdemeanors of recklessly endangering another person, and DUI. District Judge Rachel Wiest-Benner set bail at $75,000 which Wagner posted. A preliminary hearing is set for April 16 at Wiest-Benner's office.
