Vehicle strikes residence, bursts into flames following car chase

LERONA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals involved in a car chase on Sunday morning are receiving treatment following the incident.

According to the Chief Deputy
T.S. Adkins of the Summers County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 2:50am on Sunday morning, Sheriff Faris initiated a traffic stop on Route 20 in the Pipestem area.

The vehicle involved began to flee, which initiated a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit made its way into the Lerona area of Mercer County.

An attempt to turn onto Old Lerona Road caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control, at which time the vehicle struck a residence.

Sheriff Faris successfully removed both occupants of the vehicle just prior to the vehicle bursting into flames.

Both individuals pulled from the vehicle were transported by aircraft to receive medical for injuries during the incident.

Criminal charges are currently pending in relation to the investigation according to law enforcement.
