D.M. Conner returns to Augusta Board of Zoning Appeals

VERONA – Sharon G. Conner, agent for D.M. Conner, is returning to the Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals to expand the existing mining operation at 245 Oak Lane in Stuarts Draft.

D.M. Conner was at the center of a recently withdrawn quarry setback increase ordinance in Augusta County . The quarry’s neighbors were pushing the Augusta County Board of Supervisors to expand quarry setbacks , but the ordinance was tabled after a potential deal between D.M. Conner and the residents .

The application can be seen in the board's agenda packet .

"The applicants were granted a special use permit to mine a five-acre portion of this property in 2021," reads the staff recommendations section. "The applicants are now requesting to mine an additional 35.492 acres on this parcel."

The staff recommended operating conditions would confine truck traffic to Route 660 when entering the site, barring truck traffic on Sycamore Path and Oak Lane, and only allowing excavating at the site.

The recommendations would also prohibit mining within 500 feet of the Cole Campers subdivision, leaving the existing wooded land as an undisturbed buffer.

    The board will also hear:

    • A request by Vladimir Shokov, for a Special Use Permit to have a catering business with food prep within a food trailer stored onsite on property owned by Sergey and Lina Shumeyko, located at 86 Grindstone Road, Bridgewater in the North River District.

Bradley, Jr., located at 720 May Avenue, Waynesboro in the Wayne District.
