A Main Street bar was approved for an expansion at the Stroudsburg Borough Council meeting on Tuesday, March 19.
Council approved an application from Finola’s Irish Pub at 615 Main St. to add a 30-foot-by-30-foot deck, stairs and a garage door.
The pub celebrated its one-year anniversary the weekend of Friday, March 8.

Additionally, council hired two borough personnel and appointed an alternate building code official for the borough.
The people hired were Sue Francy as a part-time codes and zoning secretary/receptionist and Clare O’Brien as full-time assistant codes and zoning officer. Francy will be making $20 per hour for 22 hours a week, while O’Brien will make an annual salary of $60,000.
Stroudsburg Borough Manager Lawrence Kopp said that he got excellent recommendations on O’Brien and that the borough was “lucky to have her.”
Peters Consultants, Inc., was appointed as the alternative building code official of the borough.

Council also approved a motion for the Pocono PRIDE Coalition to hang Pride flags around the borough during the month of June. Pride flags were first put up in June 2019.
A plan to add a new mausoleum to Laurelwood Cemetery was approved. Borough Solicitor Christopher Brown said that it would hold around "a hundred-some" bodies.
Council approved an application by Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission for the Levee Loop Trail Race. The race is set for Saturday, June 1, and will last from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The applicants requested to waive the $100 application fee.
All votes were unanimous with all members in attendance.
