WEIRTON, W.Va. — Weir High decided to make culture come to life on Friday as a part of an active learning experience. "The Highland Games was a competition between clans years and years ago,” said Timothy Ferguson, president of the West Virginia Wild and Wonderful Celtic Festival and Highland Games. “They used it to determine who was their fastest, strongest so they could use them for their military. They wanted the best archers, fastest messengers, so on and so forth. Of course, they wanted their biggest and strongest to be the leaders of the military.”
