Maries County Sheriff's Office draws attention to cold case murder of a Dent County woman
The Maries County Sheriff’s Office is shining a light on the cold case murder of a Dent County woman. The Sheriff’s Office shared a message from Project: Cold Case on social media this morning. In March of 2015, Rosalee Byrd, 81, was found suffering from blunt force trauma to her head in her home in the 900 block of McGrath Lane in Salem. Authorities say she was hit in the head with a hammer. She was taken to a hospital and died that same day.

Cuba Christmas parade is Friday night
The Recklein Historic District will serve as the ending point for the annual Cuba Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade, which is schedule for Friday evening. This year’s parade theme is Holiday Movie Magic. The parade lineup will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel and the route will end at Recklein Auditorium. Missouri Department of Corrections Continues to Fight Lawsuit
The Missouri Department of Corrections continues to fight a lawsuit filed in Cole County court by a Washington County woman. On June 23rd of 2021, a sexual harassment lawsuit was filed against the state’s prison system by 65-year-old Patricia Lawson of Potosi. Lawson is a former employee at the Potosi prison. She has claimed sexual harassment at her former work site, a hostile work environment and retaliation in violation of the Missouri Human Rights Act. Lawson had worked at the prison in Potosi from mid-2007 to mid-2019.

Christmas Parade coming soon to Potosi
The Potosi Christmas parade will be held on December 7th at 6:30. The route will begin at Sonic, continue on High Street, and disband at the high school as usual.
