Metro Detroit drivers finally catching a break at the gas pump

WARREN, Mich. — For the first time in more than two weeks, motorists across Southeast Michigan are seeing a consistent downward trend at gas stations. According to AAA data referenced in the report, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Metro Detroit has dropped to approximately $4.54 per gallon, down 28 cents from one week earlier. Statewide, Michigan drivers are paying about $4.53 per gallon, a decline of 27 cents from the previous week.

Michigan Auto Law has released their annual list of the 20 most dangerous intersections in the state. The majority are in metro Detroit, specifically Macomb and Oakland counties, and five of them, including No. 1, are roundabouts, which road engineers have touted for their ability to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes. Here is the list of the most dangerous intersections in the state according to 2025 crash data gleaned from the Michigan State Police and analyzed by Michigan Auto Law: 1. 18 1/2 Mile Road at Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights (roundabout): 210 crashes, 12 injuries The total number of crashes jumped 29.6% from 162 in 2024. Total crashes in previous years were: 2023 (135), 2022 (118), 2021 (168), 2020 (131), 2019 (229). The total number of injuries stayed the same as in 2024. 2. 11 Mile Road/I-696 at Van Dyke Avenue in Warren/Center Line : 180 crashes, one fatality, and 33 injuries The total number of crashes decreased by 2.7% from 185 crashes in 2024. Total crashes in previous years were: 2023 (218), 2022 (207), 2021 (173), 2020 (124), 2019 (129). There was 1 fatality in 2025, and the number of injuries increased by 26.9% from 26
