Developer pitches 192‑unit mobile home park in West Kennebunk
KENNEBUNK, Maine — A developer is proposing to build a new mobile home park with 192 lots and seven single-family homes on currently wooded land near Alewive Road. The Kennebunk Planning Board is scheduled to review the sketch plan for the project during its upcoming meeting on Aug. 10. Abode Communities Kennebunk, LLC, is the applicant. LJB Engineering , of Portland, has submitted the sketch plan to the town on the applicant’s behalf. According to town documents , the 84-acre site is bounded to the north by Ward Brook, to the west by undeveloped woods, to the south by single-family residences, and to the east by Alewive Road and abutting residential properties. There are no structures currently on the acreage itself. The site is located within the town’s West Kennebunk Village Residential and Shoreland Overlay districts. The proposal calls for the mobile homes and family residences to be accessed by two new roads – a primary one leading off Alewive Road and a secondary one, for emergency access, off Truman's Field Road. According to the applicant, the project would disturb less than an acre of wetlands, triggering permit requirements from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps
