SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Samantha Brown from the PBS show “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love” stopped by Springfield for an episode about Route 66.

Brown interviewed the museum’s Executive Director Emeritus John Sellars about Route 66’s roots in Springfield.

“She’s taking a year-long trip across Route 66 and going to different states and stopping in at locations and venues that tell the story of the highway and its years of travel and how it came into being,” said Sellars. He said Brown was interested in the telegram that was sent from the Colonial Hotel asking for the number of Route 66 to be given to the highway. “Which makes us the birthplace.”

Sellars said the episode should air on season 8 in January 2025.

“Places to Love” showcases a different town in each episode, offering a travel guide to explore and experience its distinct culture. In 2019, the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Travel/Adventure Program and Brown won the Emmy for Outstanding Host.
