SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – According to Westport K-8 in Springfield, a school police officer tased a trespasser at the school Wednesday afternoon, March 27.

The school’s principal, Stephanie Wasko, said in a letter to parents that a sibling of Westport students entered the school through a locked door that a student held open for him during dismissal. He proceeded to evade staff and avoid answering their questions.

He left the building, but the school administrators and school police officers followed him as he refused to comply with instructions from administrators. Eventually, a school police officer tased him and he was detained.

According to the letter, he was referred to juvenile authorities to explore possible charges.

The letter also stated that the school didn’t believe the teenager intended to harm anyone.
