12 arrested in Springfield during illegal drug operation

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A dozen people were arrested during a joint operation between Springfield and State Police in March.

Members of the Springfield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police collaborated to prevent drug activity and quality of life issues throughout the city. Through this partnership, police arrested 12 people for various crimes, including drug distribution and illegal operation of a vehicle on Thursday, March 21.

Traffic stop on 1300 block of Columbus Avenue:

41-year-old Heather Roy of Longmeadow charged with:

• Possession of a Class B Drug

46-year-old Rachel Demos of Springfield charged with:

• Possession of a Class B Drug

Traffic stop on 100 block of Walnut Street:

24-year-old Jaylyn Williams of Springfield charged with:

• Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Traffic stop at intersection of State and Stebbins Streets, trafficking weight of cocaine seized:

33-year-old Cruz Fernandez of Springfield charged with:

• Cocaine Trafficking – 36-100 Grams
• Possession of a Class B Drug
• Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
• Distribution of a Class B Drug

Traffic stop at intersection of State and Dwight Streets, trafficking weight of cocaine seized:

40-year-old Jose Melendez of Springfield charged with:

• Cocaine Trafficking – 36-100 Grams
• Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
• Distribution of a Class B Drug

30-year-old Edward Hernandez of Springfield charged with:

• Cocaine Trafficking – 36-100 Grams
• Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
• Distribution of a Class B Drug

28-year-old Treysean Perry of Springfield charged with:

• Cocaine Trafficking – 36-100 Grams
• Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
• Distribution of a Class B Drug

Arrest on 100 block of Wilbraham Road, 48 bags of heroin and crack-cocaine seized:

22-year-old Gabrielle Cruz of Springfield charged with:

• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
• Tampering with Evidence
• Loitering
• Arrest Warrant

Three arrested on 6000 block of State Street:

28-year-old Daniel Garvey of Springfield charged with:

• Trespassing after Notification
• Possession of a Class A Drug – Subsequent Offense

53-year-old Jose Morales of Springfield charged with:

• Trespassing after Notification
• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Heroin)
• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Crack-Cocaine)
• Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Suboxone)

35-year-old Ashley Booher of Springfield charged with:

• Trespassing after Notification
• Possession of a Class A Drug
• Possession of a Class B Drug

Arrest of 200 block of Union Street:

53-year-old Ricardo Resto of Springfield charged with:

• Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
• Uninsured Motor Vehicle
• Unregistered Motor Vehicle
• Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID

This partnership between Springfield and State Police was formed after several State Police graduations were held at the MassMutual Center. A follow-up investigation also resulted in two people being arrested on Thursday for an illegal firearm and drugs .
