Monday Munchies: A hibachi … burrito in downtown Springdale

Downtown Springdale has yet another new restaurant that I had to try.

State of play: This time, it's Rein Hibachi and Sushi , serving up classic sushi rolls and hibachi, plus some interesting takes, like wrapping your hibachi order into a burrito.

Everything I tried in the burrito — chicken, rice and veggies — was excellent. I'd say you're probably just fine going with a classic hibachi plate. But hey, while the tortilla was a bit unnecessary, I can't say I hated it.

What to try: The crab rangoon nacho appetizer ($10) is a must-try. It's exactly how it sounds — all the stuff you'd normally get in a crab rangoon is on crispy wonton chips instead. I didn't know I wanted this.

The intrigue: This place has fun with their menu with nods to local references like the Tyson roll, Emma roll, N.W.A. roll and even the downtown Springdale roll.

• The Emma roll (Get it? Emma Avenue) with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and cilantro topped with spicy salmon, masago, green onions and sauces was exactly what I wanted in a sushi roll. It rates one (not two like some items) spicy chili pepper "heat indicator" on the menu, and I'd say that's accurate. It had a good kick but my mouth wasn't on fire.

Stop by: 11am-2pm and 5-9pm Monday-Saturday at 101 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.
