Westfield Costco plan raises concerns about traffic congestion
A Costco Warehouse proposed in Westfield would create about 200 jobs, developers said. The company seeks to change zoning to allow for a Costco and gas station to be built on about 23 acres at the northwest corner of 191st Street and East Street. At about 167,000 square feet, the store would be about 15,000-20,000 square feet larger than older Costco stores. About 900 parking spaces would be included. The gas station would feature a total of 16 pumps over four rows. The site would be the fourth Central Indiana location for the membership-only big-box warehouse store chain, which also has stores in Noblesville and in Indianapolis’ Fortune Park and Castleton neighborhoods. The store would serve about 12,000 existing Costco members living within the city, Steve Cross, Costco’s real estate development director, said during the Westfield Advisory Plan Commission’s Oct. 5 public hearing on the proposal on Oct. 5. “We think this is an excellent access for our development,” Cross said about the Westfield site. “The basic benefits are providing local jobs, curbing retail leakage, keeping retail sales within the community itself, and generating taxes and significant disposable income from those employees to spend within the community.” The store would

Drivers will see a big change at a busy Bloomington crossing
The city of Bloomington is making temporary traffic changes to a downtown intersection. Here’s what we know. What’s the intersection? It’s at West Kirkwood Avenue and South Rogers Street, where there’s a Circle K convenience store and a Regions Bank on the south side. It’s three blocks west of the courthouse. What’s changing on Kirkwood and Rogers? The intersection, which is currently regulated by a traffic signal, will operate as a four-way stop intersection. When is the change coming? The change will occur on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026 and is expected to end by Oct. 24. Why is the city making the change? The city said in a news release that crews will complete “traffic signal and curb ramp improvements associated with the Grimes, Kirkwood, Patterson and Rogers project.” “The existing traffic signal will be removed while the contractor completes curb ramp work at all four corners of the intersection and installs a new traffic signal,” the release read. The city said the existing signal had become unreliable and “had reached the end of its useful life,” which had required maintenance and prompted requests for improvement. What’s the Grimes, Kirkwood, Patterson and Rogers project? The project includes resurfacing and other
