One dead, one injured in overnight house fire

CHATTAROY, Wash. - One man has died and a woman was airlifted to a hospital after an early morning house fire, Saturday.

Spokane Fire District 4 said crews responded to the initial call that came in around 3 a.m. When they arrived at the home, they said it was "engulfed" in flames.

The man was found in the back of the home near an exit.

The woman was life-flighted to the hospital, fire crews said she was able to make it out through the front door.

A neighbor in the area said the two people in the home were a husband and wife in their 80's.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
