Resident describes encounter with armed teen prior to shooting incident

SPOKANE, Wash. — Police continue to investigate a shooting in North Spokane that injured a teenager Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a reported shooting at Center Court Apartments on North Nevada Street near East Cozza Drive. The caller said a teenage boy had accidentally shot himself in the back.

Upon arriving at the scene, police determined that was not the case and the victim was shot by another teenage boy.

According to police, the gun was left behind.

4 News Now spoke to Amber Montgomery, a resident of the apartment complex.

According to Montgomery, last Friday, a group of teens from the complex were acting "mouthy and out of line."

Montgomery said when she approached them, one of the teenagers pointed a gun at her.

"Right as we get in front of our leasing office, he turns around and pulls a gun on me. Here we are four days later, and someone is now shot," said Montgomery.

It’s not known if the teenagers involved in Wednesday’s shooting are the same ones from Friday’s incident.

Spokane Police Department said there wasn't enough probable cause to make an arrest in Montgomery's report.

According to SPD, there is no new information they can release about the case.
