Spokane Valley man arrested for threatening to kill his family

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man who threatened to kill his family and ran through multiple backyards in Spokane Valley was arrested on Friday evening, according to Spokane Valley deputies.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call around 5 p.m. near North Farr Road and East Main Avenue on April 26.

The caller told police 38-year-old Michael M. McCoy was possibly armed and threatened to kill four of his family members.

McCoy's family told deputies he was in the backyard screaming threats and behaving as if he had a gun in his waistband. They also told deputies he threatened to burn down the house.

After making the threats, McCoy left the backyard and began running through other backyards in the area on East Baldwin Avenue. Deputies also received reports of McCoy walking across I-90.

Spokane Valley deputies began searching the area along with a K9 unit.

An Air 1 patrol flight, already in the air, found McCoy hiding near an I-90 barrier wall near East Baldwin Avenue and Woodruff Road.

McCoy was arrested by Spokane Valley deputies and booked into Spokane County Jail for four counts of felony harassment and threats to kill.
