The world has lost a ground breaking acting legend. On March 29th, 2024, Louis Gossett Jr. passed away in Santa Monica, California. He was 87 years old. Gossett Jr. was born in 1936 in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. After obtaining a sports injury at age 17, he was encouraged to participate in a school play. Not long afterwards, he was encouraged to try out for a Broadway play. The rest, as they say, was history.

Do you wonder what that nasty smell that has been cropping up all over Denver is?. I know. Denver has lots of nasty smells, including urine and feces in the alleys. Tragedy struck a family in Clifton as two young brothers, aged 3 and 6, lost their lives in a devastating house fire. William Brice, 6, and his younger brother Zachariah Brice, 3, were pulled from their burning home on Whetstone Manor Court on April 10. Despite valiant efforts to rescue them, they were unresponsive and rushed to Children's National Hospital in critical condition.

Homeless urban campers in Aurora may soon be funneled to a special court where they would receive services instead of punishment. The Aurora City Council is considering a program known as HEART. HEART stands for housing, employment, assistance, recovery, and teamwork. The council briefly discussed the program Thursday during the Public Safety, Courts, and Civil Service Committee.

You’ll never guess which state just took action to consider funding sober homeless housing: None other the nation’s liberal left coast. If that’s not surprising enough, it’s a Democrat who is sponsoring the bill. California Assembly member Matt Haney of San Francisco wants drug-free housing projects to be able to compete for state money. Right now, those receiving funds must adhere to a “Housing First” philosophy and not turn anyone away for not being sober.
