High school football: Top-seed Skyridge advances to the 6A semifinals with narrow win over American Fork
A very strong defensive showing by the top-seeded Skyridge Falcons pushed them past the No. 8 American Fork Cavemen 28-21 in the quarterfinals of the 6A state playoffs Friday. Skyridge quarterback Jagger Fountaine led his team to victory with two touchdowns through the air and an 11-yard rushing score. Eli Mortsensen had two scores on the night — one rushing and one receiving from Fountaine. While his team put up enough points to get the job done, it was the defense that Falcons head coach Justin Hemm was most pleased with. “The defense was great all night. I thought, especially during the second half, we kind of buckled down and did some things that were huge, keeping us in it,” he said. “We had some opportunities there in the third quarter where we weren’t able to score in the red zone. The defense kept battling and gave our offense opportunities.” This season has been anything but easy for Skyridge on its way to earning the top seed in the postseason tournament. Hemm could not be prouder of his team’s perseverance and mentality throughout the year. “These boys have had a goal and a vision and have done a great job

Three touchdowns, three touchdowns are all it took so separate Bode Sparrow from History. The matchup Layton High vs Davis High, a simple rivalry, granted a player the opportunity to be more. By the end of the game, he was; Bode Sparrow didn’t just find the ball in the end zone, he found himself standing above one of the most recognizable records set in Utah Highschool football.
