A South Portland Police officer seems to be making a habit of helping and saving babies.Wednesday night, Officer Jessica Ramsay found a possum that had been hit by a vehicle on the East end of the city. After talking with an animal rehab facility, she found the animal was also a mother.Police say Ramsay's quick action saved the lives of five animals.Back in January 2022, Ramsay also helped deliver a baby. She is also a licensed EMT and responded to a 911 call for an imminent birth.She quickly arrived and helped the mother through the delivery. By the time paramedics arrived, Ramsay was already holding the healthy baby boy.Monday, South Portland Police wrote on Facebook, "We have some really cool moments in this job, and our officers do good things for people and animals in the city. We’re hiring so come join us to do awesome things!"
