In what feels like a rash of recent announcements of military commanders relieved of command a new addition is added to the list in April of 2024. The most recent was the commander of an infantry battalion in California was relieved of his command. The Marine Corp Times reports that Lt. Col. Christopher O’Melia was fired from his role as commander of 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, by Maj. Gen. Benjamin Watson, the commanding general of 1st Marine Division, Marine spokesman Lt. Col. Lucas Burke said in a statement to Marine Corps Times in April of 2024.

At the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass in North New Mexico, Union volunteers from Colorado clashed with Confederate Texans trying to take over New Mexico. The battle is referred to as the "Gettysburg of the West" by many historians. The battle occurred from March 26-28, 1862. Which ended in a Confederate retreat to Texas.

The Denver City Council learned more Wednesday about the workforce development component of the Denver Asylum Seekers Program. The city has transitioned the way it helps migrants, closing shelters and instead placing 800 people in the asylum program. That includes people who had been staying in non-congregate hotel shelters, all but one of which have closed. New migrant arrivals will not be eligible for the six-month work program until some graduate, according to a presentation by city staff. The city intends to keep 500 people in the work program at a time, according to Tony Anderson, workforce development manager for the city.
