LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – The Lee County Coroner has confirmed a Mooreville man was found dead along a Lee County highway Friday afternoon. Carolyn Green says Sean Hefferman, 53, was found on the side of Highway 178 in the Skyline community. This was near Grace Memorial Baptist Church.

TUPELO – A Shannon man pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter this week in connection with a fatal shooting more than 6 years ago. Second arrest made in Tupelo shooting incident
TUPELO – A west Tupelo man facing multiple weapon and drug charges in connection with an April shooting incident where a pair of cars were damaged. Tupelo police were called to the Burress Circle area (just off North Green Street) on April 16 after bullet holes were discovered in a vehicle. The responding officers noticed that a second vehicle was struck as well by the gunfire. The owners of the vehicles both believed the shooting happened between midnight and 5 a.m. Only the vehicles were hit. No injuries were reported.

Monroe County woman jailed for failed 2021 shoplifting attempt
TUPELO – Tupelo police have arrested an Amory woman who reportedly tried to steal more than $1,250 worth of merchandise from a Tupelo Walmart store three years ago. Gina R. Smith, 36, of David Street, Amory, was arrested May 10 on a capias warrant for attempted felony shoplifting. Smith reportedly tried to leave the North Gloster Walmart in July 2021 with a buggy full of merchandise including plants, two hatchets, lounge pants, boys' underwear, socks, T-shirts, Levi's and Wrangler jeans, phone screen protectors, fishing filet knives, bait and numerous fishing lures.
