Costco just one option for new retail center planned in south Reno | Exclusive
Plans for a new Costco Wholesale store in south Reno are not dead, but they are fluid as a California-based real estate firm looks to develop a major retail center in the area. Lewis Retail Centers, with more than 50 properties and projects across California and Nevada, continues to be interested in developing a large swath of land across from Shayden Summit mall, a company representative told the Reno Gazette Journal. The planned retail center, called Steamboat Creek Commons, features 211,000 square feet of retail space. Planning is still in the early stages and Costco is just one potential piece of a larger puzzle the company is looking at. A preliminary map for the retail center includes space for one large anchor tenant on the west side of the development next to South Virginia Street. It will also include eight smaller spaces plus two medium-size buildings immediately north of State Route 341, known as Geiger Grade. “Lewis Retail Centers has been in discussions with several nationally recognized retailers, including Costco, regarding a potential future retail development at the northeast corner of South Virginia Street … and Geiger Grade,” said Gigi Chisel, vice president of Northern Nevada development for Lewis Retail

Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs closes longtime downtown Reno location
A longtime breakfast institution in downtown Reno has fried its last omelet. Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs shut its original spot on 420 S. Sierra St., an employee at its Mae Anne Avenue location confirmed. “(It closed) last week,” the employee said. All other locations in the area remain open, according to the employee. The closure was also confirmed by commercial real estate firm Basin Street Properties, whose portfolio includes the 50 West Liberty building that houses Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs downtown. “We appreciate their many successful years at the property,” said Mike Williams, vice president of marketing for Basin Street Properties. “We’re not in a position to discuss confidential lease or business matters.” The Reno Gazette Journal has also reached out to owner Jodi Lee for comment. First opened in June 1999, Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs was the brainchild of husband and wife Fred “Pops” Lee and JoAnna “Peg” Lee. The Lees operated restaurants in Oregon for more than three decades before moving to Reno to retire. Five years into retirement, the cooking bug bit them once more. Originally intended as a small restaurant for the Lees to run, Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs eventually grew to
