Tenants learn of rent hike as garbage piles up on grounds of apartment complex
Tenants at the South Peak by Vintage Apartments on South Meadows Parkway just got some bad news: their rent is going up $164 a month after a $220 per month increase last year. On top of that there's more bad news that they can see with their own eyes: the trash is piling up on the property and pouring out of the small dumpsters that are set up in several locations. Bags of trash and visible garbage have spilled on to the surface of the parking lot on the property.

The Eddy withdraws proposal to lease, buy Reno City Plaza
Reno's City Plaza cannot be leased or bought by a local bar owner after the city manager issued a statement Wednesday saying there were "legal obstacles" against the proposal. Last month, The Eddy owner Kurt Stitser put out an unsolicited letter of intent to lease and potentially buy City Plaza , also known as Believe Plaza, resulting in loads of social media and public comment backlash. A month after the proposal hit the redevelopment agency's advisory board, Reno City Manager Jackie Bryant released a statement saying the Eddy cannot lease or buy the property due to Reno code. Reno's municipal code says City Plaza is considered a "public plaza" in the parks and recreation department, and it's Reno's default location for First Amendment expressive activities. Due to these two code designations, Bryant said there would be "legal obstacles" to leasing or selling the property for commercial activity. As a result, on July 1, Stitser withdrew his request to buy or lease the property that is the site of the former Mapes Hotel. "Over the past several weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to reflect on a vision for downtown Reno, public space, and what’s possible for the Riverwalk District. Our interest
