Meyer claims podium finish at state as Crusaders battle best of the best
A total of four Mankato Loyola/Cleveland track and field athletes qualified in a total of five events at the MSHSL Class A State Track and Field Championships, held at St. Michael-Albertville H.S. Thursday and Friday. Seventh grade distance runner Charlotte Meyer posted the highlight of the weekend event, claiming a podium finish of sixth place in the 3200m run thanks to a PR time of 11:27.85. Soren Kelly also posted a PR time, a 9:55.82 in the boys 3200m run, to finish 10th in the state while Chase Kijenski finished 12th in the prelims of the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.80. Maddie Huiras competed in both hurdles events for the girls, finish 16th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.37 and 17th in the 300m hurdles with a time of 48.67, wrapping up the state competitors for the Crusaders.
