Sioux City man arrested for ‘unintentional’ fatal shooting

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb (KCAU) — Officials say one man is in custody after a fatal shooting on Saturday morning.

According to a release, officials received a 911 call at 4:23 a.m. for a person who was shot. South Sioux City Police Officers and EMS were dispatched to the 2800 block of Flatwater Drive. When they arrived, they found a 24-year-old deceased male with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The release states that the victim had allegedly been unintentionally shot by Tobias Thomas, of Sioux City, who was handling a firearm. Officials believe alcohol was involved during the incident.

Tobias was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He is currently being held in the Dakota County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
