A reported bomb threat caused a temporary lockdown at Simi Valley High School while officers and K-9 units searched the campus Wednesday.

Police were called to the school at 5400 Cochran St. shortly after 8:30 a.m. when the school received the threat, a spokesperson for the Simi Valley Police Department told KTLA.

Sky5 was over the scene around 9:30 a.m. where officers and K-9s were seen looking in the area of a snack shop around an athletic field.

Some students and faculty could be seen seated on the basketball courts a short distance away but otherwise no one appeared to be moving around on campus.

“All students and staff are safe,” the Simi Valley Unified School District posted on its Facebook page regarding the lockdown.

“The stadium is being checked and once it is secured, all students on campus will be evacuated to the stadium,” the School District stated.

At that point, officers will be able to check each classroom to see if the threat is credible.

The School District stated in an update that the stadium had been cleared and students were being sent there as of 10:15 a.m.

“We have asked students to stay off their phones and social media because of safety concerns,” the school said.

Parents were also asked not to come to the school.

The lockdown was lifted shortly before 12:30 p.m. and students returned to their classrooms, the School District said in an update.

“Nothing was found, and after several hours, the school was pronounced clear and safe,” the message stated.

Several streets around the high school were closed during the investigation.
